How to Choose Between a Top mount or Undermount Sink

When people are remodeling their kitchens, they almost always replace their kitchen sink, because it's convenient to do so when the kitchen is already demo'd (demolition stage, where the old kitchen cabinets are torn down. That's industry-speak for you!)
To make these choices, we must first look at the following:
- Budget
- Style
- Material
Budget
The kitchen sink that gives the most value is definitely a stainless steel kitchen sink, because they are economically created using a "stamping" or "cold-forging" process, there sheet metal is formed into the desired shape.
Commercial grade stainless steel is 16 gauge, which is the best value. You can buy a higher gauge, but unless you're washing pots and pans for five hours a day, you're better off saving some money and buying a 16 gauge sink.
Style: Topmount or Undermount
Do you want a top mount sink or an undermount sink? This depends on your countertop. If you have a granite countertop, I recommend an undermount sink, because you show off more of your granite, and it's a very smooth look, where the kitchen sink is underneath the granite.
If you have formica, or you want a porcelain sink, they a topmount sink might be best for you.
Material
The material of the kitchen sink depends on the style of your kitchen. Are you going for a old western look? Then a copper sink might be best for you, to fit into the rustic old west.
Are you looking for a modern look? Then a stainless steel sink is going to fit in better with the rest of your high-tech appliances.
Feel free to browse your topmount sinks or undermount sinks to find the best one for you!
